I introduce myself, my name is...

Aleksand SAYA, a musician from Réunion Island. My main artistic work revolves around the fusion of Maliya, the traditional music of La Réunion, with sounds hip-hop and electro.

I started broadcasting my music in the sound systems underground the 2000s. Very quickly, the desire to mix the instruments of maloya with my music is imposed. At that time, the maloya was not as present as it is today. It was like a track game, a quest to find the ancestral techniques, songs and codes.

After being trained in different playing techniques of traditional instruments, I started adding guitars, bass, but also synths and sampling. Inspired by Caraussel, Alain Péters, Sabouk, Jako Maron and so many others pioneers I continued to explore new sounds.

Today my music and my songs take root in the island's ternary pulse, and their branches extend hybridization and experimentationin a free form.
