Fikira is a collaborative album by Aleksand SAYA and Sarera, released in June 2025. The project includes: 8 tracks (5 originals + 3 remixes) and was born from several artistic residences between La Réunion and Mayotte.

ikira based on a musical encounter between:

• the reunited maloya worn by Aleksand SAYA
• Mahorese traditions as the mgodro worn by Sarera

The whole is enriched by modern electronic textures, creating a hybrid sound that mixes roots and innovation.

On the project, the songs combine traditional instruments (percussions, gabousa, etc.) local rhythmic (maloya, mgodro, Swahilia influences) electronic production (bass music, club, remix culture)
This duality gives one music at a time warm, dancing and experimental, where traditions remain at the centre but dialogue with contemporary codes.

Beyond music, Fikira is thought of as a cultural bridge between La Réunion and Mayotte a draft valorisation of the Indian Ocean musical heritage and proof that traditional music can evolve without losing its essence

The project is part of a dynamic collective creation and transmission, resulting from both human and artistic encounters.

Fikira is not just an album where two islands share their roots to create future-oriented music. Between heritage and modernity, the project affirms a strong identity: that of a connected, creative and moving Indian Ocean.
